My paintings come from a place of intimacy, in which I depict affection, either among people or of oneself. I intend for a narration to be communicated from my series of oil paintings that are abstract, realistic, and in some areas blurred depicting nostalgic fleeting memories within surrounding surrealistic environments, whether it be meditating in nature, or a half-memory of a good moment with a friend in any mundane environment. How have we lost touch with our innate, natural sensations through time?
I closely align my current work with my own perceptions of the human figure, including the unique physical characteristics in which individual bodies hold in relation to surrounding spaces. Additionally, I intend to capture fleeting moments through the act of painting. My current body of work focuses on vulnerability within the human physical body and mind, and emphasizes certain detailed areas of the subject; meanwhile other areas are blurred out and abstracted to describe an uncertainty within the surrounding space. I intend for these works to communicate a relationship between the subject of the body and the body’s surrounding space.
